Well my 95 X drives very bad, bumps and dips in the road are felt and rattle everything in my truck
around corners it squats and leans, i just dont like how it drives

i have just spent a little bit of money on it, so i would like to not spend much more, but i would really like to make it handle and drive better
i also would like to lower the front a little bit while i am at it, i know about the TT, but i would like to change the struts up front, would these from EE make it lower and handle/drive better--- http://www.explorerexpress.com/shock-9501-explorer-front-lowered-ride-height-each-p-167.html
or would i need to get those and do a TT too

thanks, and any other suggestions would be great!!

Are the shocks just totally shot? That sounds like what you're describing...

it could be, it almost has 150,000 on it and im pretty sure the suspension hasnt been touched-they prolly should be replaced
you think that could be it??

I think it drives like a truck because it is a truck. One way to totally mush up the suspension is remove the torsion bar pre-load bolts in the front and get leafs removed from the rear, if that doesnt lower it enough, add lowering blocks. To mush it up even further buy the cheapest replacement shocks money can buy.

But personally I would buy Bilsteins shocks for all 4 sides and get some drop keyways for the front and blocks for the rear. What i stated in the first paragraph if you took that seriously and in this one you need the camber/caster adjuster kit (alignment shops should know this).

Are you 100% sure your anti-sway bar endlinks arent broken? Sounds like the entire suspension needs a once over if its that bad or you're just used to driving a BMW :)

well i figured it would never drive great, but with as many miles on it as it has i prolly should go through everything and replace some stuff, just to make it drive better

thanks

Mine drove completely different after replacing the shocks. I had 180,000 on them when I bought the truck and replaced them. It would feel every bump, and boat down the road after hitting a dip.

This is what I replaced...

Now the truck rides quite nice. Sure it's still a truck, and it isn't a Grand Marquis, but it's 1,000% better now than it was. Also, tires will make a huge difference. As tires wear, you will feel more and more road shock. If your tires are past 50% worn, that will contribute to the problem as well.

at 150K, I'd replace the shocks for if no other reason- safety... Even if you don't do the rest right now.

yea i think im gonna go ahead and go with shocks.
I replaced the tires in the fall with some yokohomas and it drives a ton better
thanks

I can tell you that lowering the front end will NOT improve your ride, quite the opposite actually. It will signficantly improve the handling though.

New shocks along with these sway bars will really help your handling.

Your rubber bushings are probably worn out by now too.
