Greetings:

As if I really needed the aggravation. On my last install of my sparkplugs, I encountered a really PITA issue. All but one of my sparkplug boot heat shields collasped onto the last sparkplug, and broke the porcelin insulator. The heat shield tube, is now blanketing the sparkplug. All that I would like is to remove the damaged tomorrow. I figured I could drill very lightly, and tap away the all of the metal that is just over the plug. I is plug #5. What say you? :):salute:

the heat shield should be aluminum,, if it is all around the plug you might be able to just pull it out with a pair of pliers, than change the plug,,,

the drain thing is confusing though, is there some kind of liquid in there too ? if so what is it?? oil ??

sorry about that, i actually mean't to say drill.

If just the insulator broke, isn't the head on the plug still intact? If so, you should be able to back it out with a socket.

that's OK I'm confused most of the time anyway
If you can't still get a socket on it, then soak it in pb blaster and try to drill just enough to use an ez-out, good luck getting a drill in there with a 5.0 though.

Thanks! I know 5.0 and a drill. I plan to use an extended colbalt bit, and moderately small one of course. It is my last plug, all of the others are allset. The old ones were either Autolite or Motorcraft platinum. I think that the NGK V Power plugs are much more efficient.

Thanks Corkey! I tried regular pliers, however, I think that needle nose would be most useful. A couple of tugs, and it should pull out. However, a little bit of drilling should help expedite the whole process.
