2015 Police Explorer
Hey guys, newbie here and this is my first post. I'm a huge Chevy guy, but my sheriff's department just gave me a brand new 2015 Explorer as my patrol car. Hard to argue with it.

One thing it doesn't have is the aux input. Because they are ordered without the console it doesn't come with it. I enjoyed having this on my other patrol car because of using my phone for music. How can I add this option to my Explorer. I found one on Ebay, but is the wiring there, just the plug in gone?

Thanks for your help

What about Bluetooth? If the Radio/Console has that, you could stream your music over it.

It doesn't have bluetooth. These things are bare bones.

This is what the one on ebay looks like.

It's just not that easy. You'll most likely need some electronic interface to the radio unless the radio has a aux input already built-in.

I guess I should have explained my question better. We bought several detectives Explorers also. Because they have the console left in their's they have the aux input. I was wondering if the factory wiring is tucked up in there somewhere and able to be plugged into that item on ebay.

Is there any way to select "Aux" from the radio?

You could just use an FM transmitter. You plug your phone into that and it broadcasts an FM frequency that you can tune into with the car radio. Not very expensive either.

I know, I didn't want to go that route unless I had too. I always seem to have issues with it picking up.

No, it does nothing when you select it. I think I may have found a way to do it. This guy is doing upgrades.

If you can't figure out how to get a "aux" port, I can attest that they've came a long way. They used to sound terrible with a bunch of static but the newer good ones actually work very good. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have the 3.5mm jack but the FM transmitter is now a decent option.

I was looking over your website and I noticed something called a "AWD Gauge". What is this? Also, is the Compass the same compass that is included with the civilian models with MFT?

Explorers (not PI Utilities) should already have a 4WD gauge...if its a 2WD unit then the gauge doesn't apply. Compass is the compass display in the cluster. All Explorers with any form of SYNC should have this. The Explorer and PI Utility are setup differently.

Sorry to dig up an older thread, but you say "All Explorers should have this", I'm assuming you are talking about the compass display, correct??

My "new-to-me" 2012 Base Explorer, does not have a compass display, if it does, it must be disabled or I haven't figured out how/or where it is displayed. My Explorer has the base message center in the cluster and NO Sync or Sat. Radio.

How do I enable the compass display if I have one?
Where is it displayed?

If you don't have sync you won't have it. The vehicle doesn't have a gps module in it without sync.
