Other side mirrors that may fit the 2nd Gen Explorers

I've searched and searched but can't find it mentioned. Has anyone ever checked to see if a 2000 F-150 mirror will fit an Explorer? The part that mounts to the door looks very similar. I ask because I know the housing itself is shaped differently, and I can buy the extensions for towing that fit F-150's all day long. But not so much for the Explorers.

Check out this thread that was started recently on it. The guy actually test fit a mirror from a Expedition (same style as a 00 150). They're pretty close. Something I mentioned was actually mirrors off a Lincoln Aviator. Since it's the same thing as a 3rd gen Ex, which those mirrors have been proven to fit on 2nd gens, I would think the Aviators, which are larger than the 3rd gen square mirrors would also fit.

Gotta go with the full-door strap for better stability and less vibration at speed lol
