p0301 code

I'm getting a P0301 cylinder 1 misfire on my sons truck. The plugs and wires are about 6 months old so I'm thinking coil pack. I read in here somewhere that the #1 and #4 cylinders both fire at the same time. If that is true I should be able to swap the wires at the coil pack and the trouble should follow to cylinder 4. Looking for confirmation that my thinking is right and that coils 1 and 4 do fire at the same time.

Sorry forgot to say its an 01 ranger with a 3.0L
