Having problems with code 442 (Evap system small leak) and need to eliminate this for upcoming emissions test. Have replaced gas cap (twice) and the purge valve and had a look at the charcoal cannister for any noticeable damage. Vent solenoid coil resisitance checks ok and is normally open so cannister venting is ok. Code returns after a couple of days.
I could take it to a shop and have a smoke test and repairs done, but would rather attempt to fix it myself. I'm considering at scan tool like the OTC scan elite pro (3499n) or a Nemisys 3797 hoping I could zero in on the problem with one of these tools. Don't mind spending the money as it can/will be used down the road.
Sorry for the long post, but if someone would like to give there experience with one of these (or similar) scan tools, I would be interested in any pros/cons etc.
