Dont do it.

It is really up to you wether you do it or not but I will tell you that I tried to take mine off and it is really really really easy to break them. They cost 40 to 60 bucks a piece and no junk yard will have them because everyone has already gone through this. I would go to a junk yard and see if you can get them out complete without breaking them first. Then buy them all for like 15 bucks and paint them. Replace yours with the painted ones.

Yeah, you gotta be careful getting them out..

alright thanks, i haven't taken them out yet, good thing.

Hey billy?

I just realized you were in phoenix, I am in mesa. So what I was telling you earlier about the junkyards, I have been to every junkyard between 32st and 32ave on broadway, and all I can say is good luck at finding anything salvageable for an explorer. The explorer is the most highly stolen car in this state because the mexicans love them so much they will pay any price. The minute any explorer goes to our junkyards they get sold to mexico. I have heard this from 4 different junk yard owners.

after i broke my vents i spent 3 full days on broadway looking for them I only found the drivers side and it was broken.

wow  thanks for the info guys

Hey bdogg,

Put me on your buddy list in case you need anything else, and also my email is klhughes@email.uophx.edu.

I am on here all day every day so I guess you can say I have had some experience.

As you can see in the pic below, I've painted mine. The ones by the steering wheel are easy to remove because you can take the dash "bezel" off.. Other than careful prying on the sides (two tabes per side), I don't know how to get the other ones off... As for what else to paint, the sky's the limit, just do good prep work and use several coats of paint.

how hard is it to install that speedo dejello? and i like the steering wheel

Just buy the color that you want to save time and energy. I learned that the hard way.

You mean a factory color right? What if you want a color that wasn't produced? (I don't even remember all that were made) And I actually like messing with this stuff.. So I don't mind using the time and energy for it :)

is your factory gauge color white?

ah, the gauges.... No they were black. Those are the procarparts silver reverse gauges... Weren't too difficult, given that I had never done gauges before, and the instructions they sent were for 95-whatever year explorers... :p :)
