Been a while since I did this, but here goes......

Were lookin to get a run going to Paragon for Feburary 25th / 26th.

This will be an actual run to Paragon Adventure Park.

Anyone thats interested in going just drop a post in this thread, but please... if you dont think you can make it, or you may make it, Please dont post saying you'll definitly be there untill you know 100% sure that you will show up. Last minute dropouts have been our biggest boner killer yet...... we want as many trucks as possible, but please dont say your gonna show unless you know you'll definitly be there.

with all that said, I hope to see many of you there

Please list what your vehicle is. Recovery points, lift, tires, etc.

What do you have on your truck? Are you stock, running 31s, tow points, etc..

Just putting my 1 cent because I've lose my other one. :D :p

Maybe there to ride along. Try to bring others.

*sniff* i'll be in CO...*tear* somebody bring a toy ambulance along and put it on some rocks and i'll be there in spirit

There are plenty of places in CO to wheel. Hagerman Pass, Mosquito Pass, around Camp Hale, Ptarmigan Pass & McAlister Gulch, Holy Cross Wilderness plus many other places. Just look on the http://www.explorer4x4.com main page and you'll see a bunch of locations. I'm sure the CO bunch could help you overcome the TJ syndrome.

As of right now i can only run on their level 1 trails. I have a locker in the mail along with a 31's and about 2 inches of lift. From the last time i was there i do recall that allowing me to go up to level 2 trails. I am not positive so if you could fill me in that would be good.

Edit: I also have front and rear tow points. Should i get a winch?

your good up to most blue and maybe a couple blacks with some good spotting.

I don't know the park nearly as well as Skunk, so I mean no disprespect, and not to ruin the more experienced / hard core wheelers good time, but I'd take this with a grain of salt. Good is a relative term. I think it depends upon (1) how hard you are willing to push your X, (2) how much damage you're willing to suffer and (3) your off road wheeling experience / skill level.

If you don't mind beatin' the piss outta your rig, and are cool with almost certain damage, then I'd probably agree with Skunk. If not, "good to most blue and a couple blacks" - esp if you are a novice wheeler - is probably a little optimistic / aggresive.

With only 31s and ~ 2" of lift, you are almost gauranteed to suffer some damage, esp on level 2 - 3 blues and blacks. Plan on a long day of dragging the under carriage - probably bending or breaking things in the process, potentially bashing your rockers in, and maybe losing a front and/or rear bumper.

I'm not trying to discourage, but being honest with what you can expect. By all means, go and size up the other rigs... worst case, leave your rig in the lot and ride with someone else on your first trip. Still be a great time, you'll get a better feel for the terrain and how the various Xs, with different setups handle it, etc.

Rear locker will help significantly, but I'd concentrate on (1) getting that X up in the air... lift, at least 33s and then (2) protection... rock sliders / guards, skid plates, etc. before I spent money on a winch.

Good luck and have fun....wish I could join.

We had Liquidseven or something like that thru blue 1s & 2s without any problems back in June. Its all about listening to the spotter so they can direct you around obstacles. Hell we had a stock rig go thru some private wheeling areas this past weekend without any issues other than a piece of the plastic tupperwear coming off.

I have been wheelin for about 3 years. I started with a jeep which i had up there twice with a friend. I should be going up soon with a cousin and his friend for a toyota bash. They do not go over their level 2 trails nor do i. I do not plan on beating the piss out of it but just having some trail time to further get to know my new ride. I rode it today on some trails which were VERY nasty with a spoter and i think it did fine. I already have a skid plate up front that i made out of diamond plating.I do not plan on making it any higher than it is already but i do plan on getting some 33's but i might not since the winshield got a large chip and a small crack forming after a idiot in front of me though it would be fun to burn out and kick up rocks. That is going to cost me close to 400 so new tires are out of the question till i get some more money.

Check with your insurance company on the windshield...many companies include that as part of the policy with no deductible....

A new windshield for a second generation Explorer shouldn't be more than $250 max... I've replaced Blackjack's twice now

As for blues and blacks with only 2" of lift and 31's... that's my current setup and I wouldn't risk Shelby on anything harder than a blue III. Last time I took her through Paragon I did heavy damage to my rocker panels on Rocky Meadow, which is a blue II I believe. (Did bad other damage too, but that was from the moron in the Jeep who pulled me out the wrong way :p). She was totally stock on 31's then, no lift. If you have an open rear differential, I'd invest in a locker (after tires) before I'd do a lift.. traction is more important than ground clearance IMHO (if you've got traction you can get around obstacles that would cause damage to low lying body parts). Limited slip helps out a lot though, surprisingly. Having front and rear tow points plus underbody protection is a huge step in the right direction  Hell, I don't even have that....

I'll be in for this one as long as nothing blows up in the meantime, but I'm going to formally request that the next trip after this one be to Rausch Creek, since no one's been there in freakin ages. (Chris, we drive 3 hours to go to Paragon and break isht, you can stand the 45 minute trip to RC once in a while ya know :p).

I have a hard time driving less then 10 min to get to paragon, no way I can make it to RC without a trailer.... I know the trails at paragon backwards and foward, in the dark, and blind folded, but I still feel that paragon is more 'bang for the buck' then RC, on top of that, I think its nice to know that if anyone breaks at paragon, theres a fully equipt garage with air, welders, and parts, less then 10 min. away.

Ill do RC again, but definitly wont drive, flat tow, or dolly my offroad rig there, if I come across a deck trailer Ill give it a shot.
