Park problem

So all my gears work fine, the only thing is that when I try to put the shift lever into P, it wont go all the way over or even engage. So I have to use the parking break while its not in P to park it, then start in neutral. I was thinking it might have to do with the linkage? Can anyone give me some insight? Thanks!

Check this thread out, When my bolt fell all the way out, I could not get it into park, but before it fell out it would just barely go into park.
