I got a 99 xls 4x4 and was wondering what other vehicles I can change parts out of. Mostly the front sheetmetal. Will like an aviator or ranger front work? What about sport trac?

Without custom metal work only the Sport Trac will fit, although your going to have a major difference with the fender flares:

(lost photos)

The Ranger will have a different contour where it mates to the door, the Aviator will be too wide. The pre-02 Mountaineer headlight panels would swap out (the metal would be the same).

If your interested in the prerunner style there's a few different flared fiberglass options:

Hum? Will the Ranger Hood Fit the '01 Sport Trac or Sport?

Oh and what Other Parts will interchange? Such as Brakes, Rear Ends, Etc?

You can use the matched front ends of the 2001+ Sports and Sport Trac.

The brakes, the 2001+ Sport and Sport Trac are the best OEM, they use a different spindle, and 12" rotor. I have those on my 99 Limited 4WD. Good luck,

I was also wondering what other 'front clips' will interchange with a Explorer, with some modification....would like a same year Jaguar 'front clip' fit?.......anybody know??......I'd like to try it :)

The aftermarket is likely the only good choice for the 91-94's front ends. There was an awful conversion where somebody stuck a Mustang front end onto a 95-01 Explorer. The upper body lines were used, and the car front end being so much shorter, it was way too high at the front, a good foot too high. The body work was done well, but the final appearance was just awful. Please don't do it. Regards,

BTW, for the 91-94's, you could make a subtle change. The side mirrors can be used from the 95-01's, and they do not fade so much like the older 91-94's.

If you have a Limited, you can buy a heated 95-01 version, and the wiring would be easy. You could also make the puddle mirrors work, if you added wiring to connect the interior lights.

If you might do that, do hunt for OEM Ford mirrors, don't waste any time or money on aftermarket, they are poor fitting, and they do not adjust in the same full range as OEM parts. Just buy used mirrors from a Limited 95-01 model. Good luck,

Hey CDW, now that you mention that mustang conversion, check this out:
BMW 5 series conversion

and a corvette rollpan for the rear

it looks like pretty good fit and finish, but still, i dont think anything could look better than the explorer/mountaineer front end

I've seen that also, a few times. They did a very good job with the bodywork, but the rear end looks really bad for a truck. It reminds me of the GM models with the worst accident record from behind, because the brake lights are so low.
Both that truck and the Mustang thing have been for sale a number of times.
