Can someone explain to me why the driver side chain guide can be replaced without removal of the engine, but the passenger side needs to have the engine pulled?

1 bolt is behind the flexplate in the bellhousing area that holds the guide in.

In Ford's infinite wisdom, they used the same cylinder head on the right and left banks of the 4.0L SOHC engine. On the driver's side, the chain components can be changed w/o removing the engine because they are on the front of the engine and are accessible. On the passenger side the chain is on the rear of the head and the transmission is blocking at least one bolt. Either the engine or the transmission must be removed to gain access to the bolt(s) located behind the flexplate/flywheel. Stupid-ass design, especially when you consider how fragile the TC components seem to be.
