So last week I put my passenger window down, then went to put it back up later, and it wouldn't go.

So I jumped on eBay, found a new motor for $35. I installed it on friday and it worked perfectly fine.

Out yesterday I once again put the window down, and then went to put it up and it wouldn't go......

What do I do now? Seems dumb to me to replace the motor yet again less then a week later. Any suggestions?

pull out the window control switch and test it ....they do go bad and plus they do fill up with dirt and debrie.

took both of my door panles off on day to change door speakers and to fix a lock switch that had gone out ....while i had the switch out and and apart i noticed that there was a wad of fibers in there ( must had built up over the years with use ) ......thinking i hada bad lock switch turned out to be a dirty lock switch ....took the window switch out to and yep the same way .

both work like new .you can "try" to goto a junk yard but if your yards are anything like mine here then as soon as a explorer arrives then a whole pack of switch /relay/ etc ... gremlems pop out of he wood work and grab everything they can get their grubby hands on (ha !) but really ,try to find one that has not been sitting to long and see if they got replacement switches for you to buy only after the cleaning does not work because the switches do have a contact pad on the spring and after years of use they develop a " pit " of sorts ... one way of fixing this is to geta fine file and gentlly ruff up the contact pad and this will give the contacts a new surface to work on and operate the window motor .

It's not the motor. It wasn't the motor the first time.

It is the Regulator. The Scissor shaped assembly that controls the Up/Down motion of the window, and keeps it in the the tracks.

It is bent. When the motor goes all of the way down it 'locks' in the down position. If you would have rolled the window down to 90% open, it probably would have worked fine. But you went 100& down, and you have jammed it.

Replace the Regulator. BE VERY CAREFUL. They can cut your fingers off!

I had the same problem with my 98. Check the hot wire it was putting out all 12v at the door but only 6-9v at the switch. Once I fixed the break in the wire it was good to roll.
