Phone button says muted

I have a 2014 ford explorer Police interceptor and have been trying to fig out how to connect my phone to the stereo system .I push phone and get muted..the radio works fine other than that.

if you vehicle didn't come with Sync, you can't connect your phone to the vehicle, for what your describing, you vehicle don't have Sync.

As mentioned by gapcomputer, you need Sync in order to connect a phone. Procedure is on page 328 of the Manual, 3rd print.

Just to clarify... if pushing the phone button mutes the radio, that means the vehicle does not have SYNC/bluetooth. You will have to find an aftermarket solution for bluetooth. Rostra makes nice plug and play kits.
