- 2016 Explorer Limited
So I just picked up my 2016 Ford Explorer Limited up here in Canada, and it's an amazing vehicle. I picked a 5 year 80,000km maintenance package to go with it as it fit within my budget for financing (just a bit over sooo I was ok with it). I signed away and off I went with my new Explorer
I ended up flying out of town the next day, and when I landed my phone had received a voice mail from the dealership. Apparently the maintenance package they quoted and SIGNED for was a 2015 Explorer Maintenance Package. I was informed that the 2016 Explorer Maintenance Package would be a LOT more expensive, and they kindly "removed" any profit that they would of received because they screwed up.
The 2016 maintenance package is over my budget. Simple as that.. but even when i was quoted the original one, it was slightly over I showed flexibility and agreed to it because it wasn't too much more. When I explained that it was over my budget and I'd rather not have an additional packages, the dealership financing representative wasn't too receptive to the idea of removing the package.
As I was away for business I couldn't continue the discussion further. Overall experience with the financing rep - unsatisfactory, passive aggressive selling. I'm not enjoying it at all.
I haven't had a chance to speak with them again to .. I'm probably going to wait until later today and explain again, you guys messed up, now that it's more expensive i'm not taking it. I'd rather have no maintenance package and have the savings on my payments then go on with it. I'm just not looking forward to the upcoming interaction. Sigh.
What would you do if you were in my shoes? At the end of the day it's my money and they screwed up. I'll probably have to sign a new contract nullifying the old one, and re-sign all the paperwork that went with it.
After all this I probably won't come back to this dealership in particular to pick another ford or anything.. their car rep guys were amazing, the back end financing person not so much. A lot of the numbers presented were confusing and I had to ask multiple times for clarification and price breakdowns. Not cool at all in comparison to when I bought my Honda at one of their dealership in 2011.
Thanks for reading, I just needed to vent a little bit in what should of been a painless and I would imagine routine transaction.
