I've got the bt700 in my 02 and when i installed it i didnt even use a trim kit and it looked fine. For mounting it i just modified the stock mounting bracket so it would bolt up to the pioneer.

yea i modified the stock bracket, got the brackets all straightened out, now just need to do the trim piece, mine has about 3/8" gap on hte right and left side of the screen. doesnt look too bad just bugs me.

They sell a kit thats a direct bolt in, I just got one and there are plenty of guys on here with them check out the audio section.

Did you wire in a switch so you can watch DVD's while moving?

I have the Pioneer AVIC-D3 double din touchscreen headunit in my 03 Explorer. I ordered a Metra install kit and it worked perfectly...direct bolt in and looks stock. You can get free instructions (with pics) on how to do the bypass hack on the headunit so you can watch movies and access the navigation menu while driving on www.avic411.com. I also wiring in my Zune dock into the car so my Zune screen appears on the Pioneer screen when I dock the Zune.

Same for me. I picked up the Metra kit at Circuit City as the local BBY didnt have it. Might be able to get it cheap now :D

If I could only convince my wife to let me sell mine to get the new version... I keep getting the "yours is fine" looks.

i used the factory bracket from the radio and put it on my pioneer p4000dvd. (drilled two extra holes in it so they match). Them used accompanied trim piece.
