Hey guys,
After doin a bunch of thinkin, I think I might go with this head unit and stick it on the bottom of my 2-din setup in my 2002. Its a sweet Pioneer DEH-P8400MP HU and Ebay has it for some awesome prices. Plus once I stick it on the bottom of the setup, I leave space for a motorized screen which I will get later and place that on top (Probably a pioneer screen). And once I get the screen Ill be able to get a dvd player for the trunk. Then soon speakers, subs and amps will come.

Does anyone have this HU? What do you guys think of my ideas? Thanks!

I have the same one. every thing about it is great it has 3 4 volt pre outs a digital audio in it has prity much everything you need for a good system in your X and it's great for LCDs. The only thing I would suggest is that you buy it from a audio place with a warranty package, because of all the little motors in it. I have had mine for about 8 months and had no trouble with it yet. I would suggest this HU to anyone

i have the 7400, which is the model right below it....and the 8400 is SUPER FAT i've looked at it in the store, it was just out of stock on the day i was all hot to get started. I gotta agree with the warranty though...the only thing i thought about it when i was testing it out was "i wonder how long it's going to take me to break this motorized face"...but i use my stereo a lot and load and unload cds like 15-20 times a day ( i spend a lot of time in my car). The sound on this series though (6400 7400 8400 etc.) is very clean and all the features are very useful once you figure out how the hell you are supposed to use all of them. How much are you planning to pay? etronics.com usually gives you a really low price, maybe pay a lil more than that and buy it locally if you can do that. :)

Does the 7400 have the speed volume control? when it senses your going faster te automaticly turns the vol up....

i have the 8400, and I love it. Check for pics in the SYSTEM INSTALLED W7 STYLE. Cant go wrong with the choice of this head unit, i get compliments left and right about it.

Hey guys, I'm thinkin about upgrading my HU in the next month or so, and was wondering if you had anymore thoughts about this deck. It is one of the sweetest looking decks ive seen, and has all the features I need.

O yea, and I can get one for about $400 with a warranty locally. Does this sound good, or should I buy on Ebay?

$400 locally, I say jump on it! I paid $500 with the dash kit, harnesses and install.

I love this HU. The MP3s play flawlessy (go to www.highwayMP3.com and download MP3 BR, its a great program to do ID3 tags and everything with. It speeds the process up so much its crazy.)

Theres two things I dont like about this HU. One, it doesnt turn down the volume to any predetermined level at power off/on. After having the stock HU that did that, I've scared the crap outta myself jumping in to a stereo set on 30+ volume. The other thing is it doesnt auto scroll a name too big for the screen. It also only scrolls the name one time once you make it start scrolling, instead of scrolling continuosly.

Thats all I can find having it over a month.
Oh ya the Super Bass EQ setting will just blow your speakers/subs...dont mess with that one.
