ok im went to map quest. i know where gilmer is but dont know where to go once i get there. so can someone give me directions from gilmer? oh yea how much does it cost to get in? and what should i bring? this is my first trail ride.
Its about 5-10 miles past Gilmer on 155. I cant remember exactly how far it is because i always come from the other direction. Just remember, if you get to the big lake you went too far. It will be on your right coming from Gilmer, and it will be on the top of a hill. Keep an eye out because its easy to miss.

Directions off of the BMRA website...

From Gilmer turn east onto Hwy 155 North (this is a stoplight). Go approx. 5 miles to the Picnic Area - at about 4 miles out you will see a small blue sign on your right "Picnic Area 1 Mile". You have to watch for the turn off because it is at the crest of the hill and you will miss it if you are not paying attention. There is a big blue sign that says "Barnwell Mountain Recreational Area", but it is directly across the Hwy from the entrance. Turn into the picnic area and follow around to the BMRA gate.... you can't miss it.

Joe, our only requirement for newbie ridealongs is that you have to bring some hotties along. :p

If you are camping, you'll still have to pay $7.50 for that.

I'm sure there will be seats available. Several of us have 4 door Explorers and won't be bringing anyone along.
My only requirements for passengers is NO screaming. :D Wetting your pants is ok as long as you tell someone about it and clean it up.

I figured JamesT or SVO would say something like that. :banghead:

Ok, that boy has stated several times that he is 17. So him buying beer is a :nono:
But, bringing along 18 year old hotties would be fine. :p

love the avatar John :)

i guess i bolt back on the back seats just in case. :) does anyone need/want seatbelts? lol.

seatbelts are for sissy's. Just kidding and actually Gilmer requires the use of a seat belt while wheeling on there property. :nono:

Big dilemma :( I forgot about FST's race which is on the same weekend as this run. I'm the teams photographer, but I'll see if they can find someone to cover for me. I really want to go to Gilmer.

Cmon Rick, make it happen. Brian told me that he is bringing you a handful of mini-thins so you wont be the first one to go to sleep. :D

directions

ok yesterday i went to gilmer to take my little brother home and i decided to look for barnwell mountain! well i drove about 30miles outta gilmer on 155 north and didnt find crap. then i thought on the way home that yall said look for a sign that says picnic area. i do remember seeing that but iwas looking for somthing that said Barnwell Mountain. CRAP i cant wait, i hope the great pumpkin gets to come i would love to see his truck.

I told ya bro, its real easy to drive right past and not even notice. Its at the crest of a hill and you really gotta be on your toes. There are signs but they dont really make it very obvious.

Also, it looks like i will be DRIVING the trailer trash. Pop's has to use the oil burner/trailer that weekend, and i still dont have a towbar. Sureshot will be driving his heep so we can have a ride home if my junk breaks. Hopefully the cops will cut me some slack on the way there. :p
