anyone know where this part goes, 2004 V6 explorer
It comes out of the firewall on the passenger side

that looks like a vacum line you should see a hose around there not connected to anything just push it in the open end on that rubber part in your hand or maybe a nipple on the side of the motor

I can't find anything that it goes to, or where to plug it in. SUV seems to be running fine.

That is likely for the heater control valve or the vacuum reservoir, all vehicles have them. Follow the two heater hoses from the firewall out until you find the heater control valve. There will be a vacuum port on it that a vacuum line goes to. The vacuum reservoir is often hidden under inner fenders or in the fender, and there should be two lines going to it. Follow the other vacuum line that you have there and see if it takes you to the reservoir. Good luck,
