Please help tranny trouble

1999 ford explorer was going to work hit the gas was going good then reved up like popped into neutral i was able to keep going by manualy shifting gears now wont go please help

Fluid level and condition?

Fluid good fresh fluid and filter 311000 miles

Overdrive light flashing?

Get the fault codes. Local auto parts store will read then for free.

After sitting for some time pull out the trans dip stick before you start the engine and see how far the fluid is above full mark on the stick.

How long ago was the fluid changed?

Was it flushed?

Was this the first time it was changed?
