OK, I must not have done a very good job with my question last time. Has anyone upgraded a 2000 SOHC to performance wires yet?

If not, how about a 1999 SOHC? If so, did the OEM wires have the large clip type plug ends?

Well I just ordered them for my '99 sport SOHC yesterday, and should have them by tomorrow, and I had the same question. I bought a replacement pair from a auto parts store, and they just had the little boots, not the long ones like factory. I asked around here, and they said that both splitfire and Jacobs wires have the longer boots. So the answer is yes. From what I understand They dont make them for 2000 yet. But I would think they would be the same as '99. But I dont know for sure. Does anybody know?

This may be a dumb question , but why are you guys changing spark plug wires on a new vehicle?

Jim: Well' if you are asking, here's why I want to replace them. Believe me, I am no authority on this, but this is my understanding to this point. OEM wires are either mag-core or carbon-core. Resistance of mag-core wires is about 1500 ohms and resistance of carbon-core is closer to 3000 ohms. The resistance of Splitfire wires (also
Jacobs, Accel, MSD) is less than 250 ohms. Less resistance equals faster, stronger spark, which in turn may mean better reliability and power. It may well be unprovable, but then for 50 bucks...it's better than a bad night out.

split fire don't even have part #'s on there site for the '99',or the '98.anyone have these wires on a new sohc. unless the splitfire site has not been updated in a long time

What is a good way to know whether wires are bad or not? Mine are John Baker Performance and they are a few years old. I know an OMH meter must be used to measure resistance but I don't know what acceptable/unacceptable amounts are.

Well: I wound up giving jacobs electronics a call today(to order a set of wires),and after I was done I had just bought(ordered) an ignition enhancer, that comes with a free set of the ultrafit 8.5 wires,if it don't work, it will go back,(minus those wires)!!
it is supposed to customize each cylinder's spark. we will see!!

I paid $410. final cost, although they told me how great this thing is,that it customizes the burn in each cylinder.noboby has gotten back to me from this site though, about this product,I sent a few e-mail's to a few people that left older posts on this thing,we will see
