Explorer '98 XLT
Well here it is. I have a 98 Explorer XLT 4.0 V6 with 95,000 miles. A couple of weeks ago it was bucking and jerking so I did the contact cleaner method on the MAF. That helped. Then it started missing pretty bad and I figured out I had a burned spark plug wire so I replaced all of them and the spark plugs and put on a new air filter and fuel filter while I was at it. The ol' XLT ran great. I drove it well over 500 miles with no problems. Yesterday I stopped at a store and came back out and fired her up to discover that she was missing pretty bad. So today I checked all my wires and plugs and thought that I had found the source of all this rough idling and so on; it was a loose plug. I check the plug and it was not fouled or anything so I put it back in but the miss was still there so I checked vacuum lines and so on and found nothing. I disconnected the plug going into the ignition module to check for problems there. When I started the XLT up it ran worse than before. What in the heck is going on? Zero Check engine lights! I am about to pull my hair out trying to figure this one out. Please Help.:dunno:
