I got 17mpg on my last tank of gas.

About 50/50 hwy and city I would say. I drive with a lead foot. Have 31" tires. Manual transmission. No error codes. All fluids in vehicle are fresh. New plugs. New plug wires.

I seem to get about 15/20 city/highway. 16-18 with a mix of driving. Stock tires and probably in need of a good tune-up. Also should add it has 168K miles on it.

I get 18 with a automatic..... I thought the 5 speeds got better than the autos.. I WANT A 5 SPEED BAD!!..... Ive ALWAYS like a manual trans.. Its what I LEARNED to drive with, It was a LWB 68 Ford 4x4 4 speed 360 engine, a tough son of a gun!!

On my 92 4 door 5 speed 3.27 gears 190K, I get 21 to 23 in mixed high way/city driving in the warmer weather. I loose about 3 to 4 mpg in the winter. I have to keep the speed around 55 to 65 on the high way or the mileage drops quickly.:D
I will have to see what the 96 Sport AWD with a auto and 3.73 gears 5.0 transplant gets, almost ready to get it on the road.

i have tool boxes in the back, 1 of which is bolted to the floor, and 212,000 miles, i get 10mpg city, and roughly 12 or 13 hwy. but im not nice to my tranny anyway. so.....

Mine is still in the rebuilding process, but preliminary runs at 70 MPH have given me 18.6 MPG.

For highway driving, 65-70 mph gets me 400+ miles to a tank, a pretty consistent 21 mpg. Keeping the speeds lower and the RPMs closer to 2000 gives 25+ mpg, but thats using the foot to take it easy and keeping the cruise control off.

Around town is harder to judge, since all the starting, idling in traffic, and stop-go-stop-go doesnt make for a lot of miles traveled while the engine was running. On average it's close to the expected 17 mpg, sometimes more like 15 if I drive it harder.

I have a '91 XLT 5spd manual 29" tires, exhaust and intake, 137k, mixed driving I get around 15 city-18 highway with dry weather.

tho i got a auto @ 210k , i get on a average of 21-22 solid maybe 23 if i'm real carefull but if i lay into the gas alot i'll get at least as low as 19 ...about 350 miles per tank if i'm real easy on it .

1991fordexploder.... you need to get your stuff checked out if your getting that type of mpg .....thats bad even for a 91 .

Thanks all, makes me think I'm not doing to bad on my mpg. Good way to sorta baseline the engine and know everything is running decent.

i get about 17mpg with mine also a mix of driving its on 31's 5 speed and for sale if anyone wants it !! could use a tune up and a little tlc very little rust!! came from florida with me when i moved back to West virginia

So after looking at the figures, is it safe to conclude that on average, the manual transmissions are pretty much getting about the same MPG figures as the rest of first and second gens? In other words, from mid teens to low 20s?

I get about 15 MPG in town. Usually get about 285 miles out of a tank.

i get around 17 in city, 22 on highway

got 23-24 highway @65 on the stock 235/75s, dropped to about 21 on the bald Toyo 31/10.5 A/Ts, expect a little more drop with the new Cooper 31/10.50 M/Ts I have now. City's good too, about 17-18 consistantly.

2000 - 5 speed, 126,000, OHV, stock tires, 3.55 gears, could use some tuning up, all synthetic fluids

I get around 19-20mpg mixed driving. I used to get about an average of about 21mpg. I have gotten as much as 25mpg with it.

2003 Sport - 5 speed, 66,000, SOHC, stock roll rate on tires, 3.73 gears, 2wd, CAI
I average around 22mpg mixed driving and get as much as 24mpg. There is still room for improvement. I haven't switched it to synthetic fluids yet and have some other components to install.

one time i hypermiled the s@#t out of it and got 450 miles to a tank. but that was driving like a complete grandma, or worse.
