Dude come on. Explorers never came with a 2.79 gear ratio. And please post in one of your previous threads, theres no use in making another thread to ask the same question you asked in your other thread.

oh okay on the door it has 43 and i went to the ford site and thats what it said? it said 3.08 but how can i tell

I have 3.73 gears and I was pretty content (as much as a gear-head could be) with the power level of my '93 XLT 4X4...

I put on 31's in place of the 235/75/15's last week and the power loss is noticable. Not to the point that I am looking to change gearing, but if I went any larger (should say when I go larger, addiction growing worse) I will definitely be changing my gear ratio. Probably won't bother with anything less than 4.56, most likely will go with a ration in the 5. range...

Hope this helps.

if i do have 3.08 gears should i go with 31 or 32 inch tires with a 2inch lift

3.08? Don't go larger than stock tire, that would absolutely suck with 31s.
