I am on my third set of power running boards for my 06 Mountaineer. Does anyone have an easy way to replace the motors or a cheaper replacement than 1200 for each new board?
Thanks

If/when mine ever go out, I'll be watching for a set of fixed boards at a salvage yard.

I agree- those boards are the biggest pieces of Chevy that Ford ever stuck on a vehicle. Go fixed...

here how i fixed my running boards now I have no problems!

I also wish they used the "Out" setting differently.
When you set it to "Out" they stay down, but as soon as you start moving, they go back to Auto-mode. I understand that this is to protect them and improve aerodynamics.

But a better option would be to have the "out" setting move the boards down, bring them up when you drive, but put them back down when you put in park/shut off engine. That way, they aren't going up and down every time you need to get something out of the truck in the garage. I would leave it in that mode all the time if it were available.

Use Deep Creep Spray(same as SeaFoam but in a spray). I tried different lubricants and nothing worked until I used Deep Creep last year and they have worked like new since-no problems-and we had alot of ice and snow last year. I should re-apply again to keep them working! :)

that's actually not a bad idea I'm sure I could wire them in that way. Someday when I lift the **** out of my 01 sport I'm going to get power retractable running boards for it and I'm going to wire it up so that when I shift into Park they come down unless I end up swapping in a stick shift by then. Then I'll probably wire it so that they come down when the e-brake is set or a door is opened.

Sorry to wake up a dead thread
