Please help! How do I install a power side mirror (passenger) on my 2000 Mercury Mountaineer? Its the same mirror as is on Explorers of the same year. I have a replacement mirror from a junk yard, but no instructions. Some jerk sideswiped me in a parking lot, and never left a number!! (big surprise, huh?) Any help would be greatly appreciated.....thanks.

I did my passenger mirror side last summer, it wasnt too difficult for a first time try just take your time removing the door panels if your **** about scratches and nicks, you can get new plastic clips cheap if you really want to make sure its a tight fit when you put the panels back on, but its pretty much an easy bolt and go type job...as far as the wiring just follow whats already there....Here's a link to the free online guide from autozone http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiB..._us/0900823d/80/0b/e6/ef/0900823d800be6ef.jsp

SOME explorer mirrors will work.
There are a few that do not have the puddle lights on the mirror that your Merc. has. These mirrors will have a different wire connector at the end.
As long as it has a pudle jumper light in it it will fit just fine.

A phillips screw driver, a pannel popper an 11mm deep socket and a 7mm socket are the needed tools. Make sure the galss is all the way up.
Remove the two screws under the handle and pop out the bezzel around the lever.
Remove the door trim pannel from the bottom up. The sill area and the area behind the mirror will lift off. Push the button pannel through the door trim panel. Set the door trim panel in a safe location. Remove the speaker with a 7mm socket. ( some have a 5.5 mm socket ) behind the speaker you will see two plugs. Obviously the one that goes to the mirror is the one that goes to the mirror. Unplug that one by pushing on the tiny tab wile pulling up on the connector.
Now peal back the insulation over the mirror bolt holes. Remove the three 11mm nuts and the mirror is off.
Hopefully you can handle the going back together part. If not we are here for you.
