Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum and have found it very informatative. I am hoping someone can help me with a power steering problem I am having with my Explorer. I have a 1996 Explorer XLT 4x4 w/4.0L OHV and the steering seems to bind on me when I turn the wheel in both directions and it doesn't rebound like it should, I have to manually bring the steering wheel back to center. It is also intermittant which I thought was odd but seems to be happening more often now. The power steering fluid is full but looks a little dirty. I jacked up the front end today to see if it would do it in the air and the steering wheel and front wheels starting shaking violently when I was turning it and then it kept shaking on its own I had to shut the truck off to get it to stop. After I lowered it it continued to do for a while after I was driving it but then it went back to just being stiff. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
