Hello Guys, I have a little bit of a problem for you. I have a 1996 Ford Explorer 4x4 XLT. About two weeks ago I finally sent it to be inspected and have the power steering fixed. For the power steering the shop had to put in a new rack and pinion and also a power steering pump. when I brought it back i noticed that when turning right there was a little dry spell where it got a little rough to turn and after that it was fine the rest of the turn. So today i read that putting the front end up and turning the wheels lock to lock should expell any air left in the line but in the process the fluid would rise more then half an inch and when the power steering pump cap is on it will shoot right out of the cap hole. so after doing that for a little bit i stopped and took it for a spin down the long drive way, doing the corners i now noticed turning both direction there is a very bad shudder and if i hit a small bump the steering wheel shifts. Unfortunaly i dont have a ton of money to take it to a shop me being sixteen and limited on income. If this is fixable at home i can fix myself(im enrolled in an Auto Tech course at school) and any help is always greatly apprectiated. Thanks for all your help with this project and many past and many more to come. Thanks, Austin.

Rough Spot in Steering Now!!

Well I got rid of the studder in the steering but now it seems when i go down the road and attempt to turn right it hits a certain spot where it does not want to go as easy and then as soon as i break it past that point it is fine. I had done some searching but not a whole showing up. Any ideas.? Thanks

blowing bubbles!

anytime you open the system or turn the wheel without it running this happens, its just air trapped in the rack. with it running cycle the wheel lock to lock several times it should clear fairly quick.

Okay i will have to try that tommorrow and hope fully not reopen this. Thanks.

This lock to lock turn deal, is that done with the power steering reservoir cap on? There is a vent in it right? Probably a stupid question...
