2021 Explorer Platinum
My 2021 Platinum was built in early September '21 right after the long chip shortage shutdown. From day one I've had intermittent "Pre-Collision Assist Not Available" warning messages pop-up.
Not wanting to take the vehicle to the dealership for an intermittent problem, I kept driving it hoping for a full time failure but that had not happened.
So today I looked behind the lower middle section of the front bumper and found an apparent build quality problem. The large sensor tucked behind the square section of the bumper was loose.
*** I mean falling out loose. ***
I was able to press it back on the two upper posts until I felt it lock in place. You can see one of the posts in the top center of the first picture. The area is difficult to photograph. I believe this is the Cruise Control Module (CCM)
So far it's working without fault. I'll report back in a few weeks.

Hope that will fix all of your problems 👍🏻

After two full days of driving in moderate traffic I'm pleased to report the Pre-Collision Assist Not Available warning has not reappeared.
Also, the Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control now works flawlessly. ☺️

Very timely and helpful! I just had the same issue after lightly bumping a wall in a parking garage. Very small scrape to lower gray nose, but suddenly this issue. You saved me a trip to dealer. Thank you!

That's the beauty of the forum!

1 week of driving and all Pre-Collision and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control assists are working perfectly.

Final report: 2 full weeks and no more warnings - the improperly installed sensor was to blame

I just had same issue. Glad I found this. Just pressed one corner back on and after a few miles it started to work again. The ads on this forum make it unusable.

Any error messages since? Just bought a 2021 explorer ST and having the same issue but can’t seem to pinpoint what the deal is!

No problems since then. Working perfectly.

This is exactly what the issue with my explorer was. The sensor easily poppped back onto the mount. Took 5 minutes

In reference to the cruise control distance sensor, yes there was an message the vehicle brought up while driving.
Assuming your issue is a similar fix, once it pops back onto the mount, it works perfectly
