I have a 91 explorer and the pressurized fuel line leading to the fuel pressure regulator is bad. The dealer only sells it as a complete unit and it is $250. Does it have to be that specific part, or can I just use bulk fuel injector line?

Have you tried other resources? Look at LMCtruck.com they may have what you need for less. Autokrafters sells ford parts but they don't have much for explorers yet. I would check a local parts house that deals with motorcraft parts. Around here, KOI (Kentucky Ohio Indiana) auto parts is where I get my stuff.
I guess you can use bulk line but making connectors may be a problem. I would spend the money for the right part and put the liability on the parts manufacturer.
The olny other place you might find the line is from a used X that someone is parting out. DO NOT try to cut corners when it comes to the fuel system. The Ford part may be $$ but it is the correct part.
I like the catalog on LMCtruck.com, they show some good diagrams that help pinpoint the part you need, but unfortunately they didn't seem to have the fuel line I needed. I went to a salvage yard to pull one from an old explorer. They all had a different fitting on the fuel pressure regulator. Mine was a quick disconnect like on the other end, but all the explorers at the yard were a screw on type, so I just took the regulator too. They gave it all to me for $10 so I came out a lot better than the dealer's $250.
even the 91s at the yard had a screw on type. Mine was a very early production 91, it was actually made in 1990, but now that I think about it, my engine is out of a 95 ranger. I didn't even think about that. Oops. Anyway, I just took the regulator out of the 92 explorer at the yard with the screw on fitting, so that the hose would fit on it.
