I just got my new pro-m mass air flow sensor in today. I installed it, but did not notice any difference. Do i need to disconnect the battery to reset the ecm or will be automatic. or is this just the way it is

the only other mod i have is the mac cold air intake
i have a 2001 xlt 5.0

You need to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes to reset the ecu.

You probably should let the engine idle until its warm before driving it also.

should i notice a big difference

Not a big difference. If you get a chip, exhaust, and throttle body then the Pro-M will complement those mods.

Think of your Pro-M as giving you more potential, with other mods, than you would have with a stock MAF.

Rhett is right.

The sequence of your installs wasn't very good. Mods build on each other, and the MAS on the 5.0 or a 95+ 6 isn't gonna do much with a mostly stock truck.

i am planning on getting the apten chip and a flowmaster exhaust pretty soon.

I wanted to add i saw in the apten site if you change the mass air flow the chip should be reprogrammed. that is 1 reason i got this first
