My 2001 sport has a problem when using the key to unlock the drivers side door. Im not currently using the SUV but the keyless entry system ran out of battery power and my girlfriend does not know how to change this so she uses the key. She said it takes alot of force to turn the key and when you hit a point of force it works. Has anyone had this problem and what were your findings?

Yeah, the linkage design of the locks aren't the best on the 2nd gens. They need to be well lubricated to work well. There's a graphite powder lubrication that I think you can get at auto stores which is what it uses that you put in the lock opening. It's not recommended to put WD-40 or a lubricant in there as I think it kind of mixes with the powder or something and makes a cement like mess or something. The lubricants only seem to work for a short time also.
