Last week I just bought a 1998 ford explorer for $1100.00. The car is is beautiful shape and I wanted to make sure everything was up and running within working order. Now on the keychain remote comes with a "red" button which I thought was a alarm,so I decided to push it. It activates obviously a theft system with a red theft light coming on and the vehicle horn going on and off. After pushing the button again the horn stops going off and the theft light still stays on. I pulled the battery cable hoping it would go off from the dash and still stays on. I did some research online and there is suppose to be a reset button under the right of the staring wheel, which I never seen anything there. I heard people having problems driving and the engine cutting off. I dont need these problems esp being stuck out someplace. Can anyone help me please??

The red button is a "panic" button, that activates the
horn as you've found out.

If the 'Theft' light blinks in intervals of about
1 second with the key off, then that's normal.

Good luck with your 'new' 98. Sounds like a nice one.
