Project Baby Runner/Mini Crawler: R.J.'s Navajo Build

Yeah im starting to think the custom pack is the only way to go. Its a little more money but will work right and bolt right up with no issues. Maybe if a few of us ordered them at the same time we could get a discount for a group buy or something..

i would say get the explorer pack instead of the ranger pack though. because the explorer pack is shorter in the rear so it prolly won't bend up like mine is in the pic

You mean the G50E pack and go SOA? I would think that would be as good a combo as there is, at least for a 4 door which will eventually get a cage and a tire carrier bumper, and be carrying extra gear and passengers. Sorry for the rambling on in your thread. :) I'm interested to see how you get this figured out.

...ranger pack , huh???....maybe they would fit mine...:D...j/k

...just my .02, but i think it may be a combination of a few things...the weight on the rear, the longer leafs, and then def, the angle of those shocks...

tedd i think your right. although first thing to figure out is ride hight, which isn't effected by the shocks. but the bucking is probably the shocks, as danny tried to warn me about ;)

i think we're gonnaget the pack rebuilt by deaver. i called them and they said no problem. just bring em in and we'll change some leafs around and get it to sit up a few inches higher.

......that sounds like a plan...i was thinking you might want to get the bumper and spare tire weight, so they could figure that in too...that is a lot of leverage weight on the rear...it might be causing some more problems down the line ...but keep up the great work...i need something to dream about while mine is sitting...

swapped out the springs last night. my skid plate shock mount thing got a good work out from just that one trip. it had fresh paint two weeks ago. somehow one of the holes got bent into a "D" shape

sittin a little better now

So any possible solution to use those Deavers or no?

we're gonna have them rebuilt by deaver. switch some leafs, stiffen it up and make it sit a few inches higher. cost some money but its still less than a custome pack

shooting for better performance by using lessor technology?

also realized that although the procomps and the fox's are both 12" travel shocks, the procomps are about an inch shorter in overal length. which means my limit straps need to be moved :(

oh and since i also got some procomp es3000 for the dd explorer, i thought i would share this.

es9000 shocks are stiffer than es3000, and es9000 have a quicker rebound.

...i have the 3000 on my ranger and the 9000 on my X...i may change to the 3000 on the X but not sure yet...i am impressed with the 3000's on the ranger...:D

...this is about the time of year when procomp shocks go on sale...;)

Would you say that the es9000 are stiffer than the rs5000? I need to replace my front shocks soon, and need something that'll help keep the tires from hitting the top of the wheel well every time I speed over something 6" high...:(

i've never dealt with ranchos. i say just ge rs 9000 and you'll never have to question again :D

I've thought about getting those before, just kinda spendy. Oh well, still cheaper than trying to buy and tune some baby resi's...thanks RJ.

Or get some fox challenger 6" non resi shocks. Direct bolt in and re-vavling isnt that hard. Ill be learning how to do all that really soon.

I run the 9000XL's. They are a big ass shock. the body is over 2.75" dia. I like the fact you can tune them with the turn of a dial. I usually just tune them then leave them. I'm too lazy to crawl under the truck every time to adjust the shocks. Too poor for the in cab controller.;)

I had the resi 9000 shocks on my explorer with the solid axle. I was not impressed, never thought they were stiff enough. I put them on level 9 and left it. I've come to the conclusion there are only a few brands of "real" shocks, and the 9000 has too many adjustments, it's a sales gimic I mean, who really encounters 9 stages of terrain?

Maybe true or false info I was given in the past, but I heard that the stiffest on the 9000 (level 9) is the same as the stiffest on the 5000 (level 5), so all they did was add more in between levels.
