My son thought I should share this idea. I'm sure it's not original, and if it's already been shown here, I apologize. But this seems to work pretty well.
Here is what I have...a very expensive AVIC-Z2 Navigation system. Please excuse the woodgrain...I bought it that way:
That thing wouldn't last more than a few minutes in some places around here. And alarms only make them work quicker. So I went to eBay and found me a radio that didn't work for $5. Perfect.
So I removed the face plate from the radio, and glued the buttons in place. Please note the little tiny piece of Velcro at the top.
I placed a matching piece of Velcro on my dash bezel, and now I slip this into place and it's held with the Velcro. It takes someone with a very knowledgable eye to catch that it's just a cover. And since all my antenna's are mounted under the dash pad, nothing at all shows to indicate what is actually installed in the car.
