Pulling a trailer

I'm hoping to be able to pull a two horse trailer with my Explorer.
Guessing the trailer weighs some where around 2600 pounds, 1000 lb horse, 150 lbs of tack and a hay bale.
The Explorer's weight is about 4700 lbs if I recall correctly. Factory tow package and I'll add what ever we need for a safe pull. Anyone tow animals with their suv?

This Explorer will be doing softball, horseshows and lots of taxi service this summer. Hope it gets here soon!

explorer is only rated by the factory to tow 5000 lbs. By quick rough math math, i think your just under the 5k pound limit. so you should be just fine. You might want to look into a trailer brake controller if your trailer has electric brakes
