Putting bicycle in bed

I want to buy a bike (bicycle) and place it in the bed to drive it somewhere to ride. Is there a certain way to do it? Can I just throw it in there? People say I should get a 'bike rack'. I say, what for, thats why I bought a truck so I could just throw things in there.

Yes, if you don't mind a few scratches on the bed and the bike every time just throw it in. There are racks made for inside the bed, but you could also get a couple of inexpensive cargo bars (I got one for $19 on E-Bay) and then the bike can stand up and be attached with bungies.

put a rubber bed pad in throw in the bike, and go ,

Saw a movie where they put a horse head in the bed. Dont really see the need with a bike, it would only grease up the sheets.
