i have a 98 xlt no factory sub or anything

thank you and sorry if this question has been asked already (i searched and searched), if so please point me in the direction

just do what i did and ran new wires to the factory wires and power them up that way. i know its not the best way to do it but i was limited on time. since i already had most of the wiring set up i just connected it to the factory wires behind the radio and then ran those new wires to the back of the truck where i had my amp.

see thats how my brother has his in his cobalt but its a little easier to do in his because everything just pops out
but when i ran the wire for my sub it was a pain in the ass
i had to use a metal coat hanger to fish the wire under everything
with running 4 sets of wires plus a set of rca's im deff. gonna have to pull the seats to be able to manipulate those wires under the carpet so im looking for an alternative to that

In my 98 Sport, I removed the back seats. The Carpet was seperate from the trunck crapet because the seats fold down. I then pealed all the carpet back from the sides. Ran the wires for audio down and around on one side and the power down the other. Always remember to keep the power cables seperate, to avoid interferance.

well i just peeled back the carpet and layed my speaker wire flat and ran it that way. and i also ran wires down the channel where the factory wires are.... i just tucked the wires next to the channel and it worked fine for me, no coat hanger or anything.

one of these days im gonna rewire it all but thats only when i get more stuff. i just have factory speakers wit a kenwood powered bass tube that was given to me for free.

How do those sound? I have always wondered what the difference between those and a regular sub is.

it sounds good for what it is. as long as the gain is set say half way and the frequency set at 40hz... or was it khz, dont remember but it sounds pretty good. it fills in all the bass notes that the speakers cant. and you can feel it hit hard and it gets the truck vibrating on the really low notes. i like it and my son loves how it vibrates his car seat, he always starts yelling at me when i turn music on and when i do hes always laughing and dancing in his own ways, lol

well plug the wires in behind the radio where it comes out of the dash and mount it under the dash. thats what i would do its easy and all you do is run the radio into the amp the amp into the adaptor or the plug on back of radio in harness do you have an aftermarket radio.... if so who installed it.

i installed it
and the amp is to big to put under the dash or anything maybe under the passanger seat

all im trying to figure out is if all 4 speaker channels (from stereo to speaker) pass by the rear of the truck
i've read that the speakers in some models with the factory amp are all powered from an amp behind one of the panels in the cargo area

im not sure about the late 90 model but i know my 93 dont they run from the factory radio to the factory amp under the dash to the speakers. figured that out the hard way when i decided to trace the speaker wires. wish i could help more.

in my 98 sport the factory amp was located behind the passanger side cargo area. I just spliced into those wires that were plugged into the factory amp. I originally planned to run wires to the doors but i got lazy. But i am planning to upgrade speakers soon so i may just go ahead and run new wire everywhere.
