question about A4ld transmission

hey i recently purchased a rebuilt A4LD tranny in a 93 explorer sport. and it is not engaging in park and OD does not work. and i was curious as to some of the common causes of this problem???

shift cable (between the on column shifter and the transmission) properly attached and adjusted?

The linkage is adjusted by a set screw on the end of the cable which attaches to the arm on the driver's side of the transmission.
