Question about stock stereo

Hey i just got my Xsport
It came with the pioneer audiophile system. I have an Alpine CDA 7892 and was wondering what i need to hook that up. Ive seen people talkin about a ford removal tool, and it is a double din so what else would i need? Finally is there any way to continue to use the stock 6 disk CD changer with an after market HU?

you can go to walmart and pick up the removal tools. it looks like 2 metal U's. they slide into the two holes on either side of the HU. push out away from the HU on the removal tools and the HU will slide right out.

p.s. take off the molding around the HU first. i think they are connected. dont remember.

You need the Ford radio removal tool that silenze was talking about. You also need a dash kit to make your double DIN hole fit you single DIN HU. Then you need a wiring harness kit so that you don't have to cut into the stock wiring. As far as the hookup of the 6-disc changer, I can't help you there, sorry.

im sure you have a six disc indash changer. i would have no idea how to hook that up as a secondary HU. you could buy yourself an external 10 disc changer with mp3 support for under 150. id do that instead.

By the way, if youre cheap like me you can take a couple metal coat hangers and bend in a "U" shape, so they fit in the holes, instead of buying the "radio removal tool".

I wouldn't do that. Even with the proper tool, it isn't a breeze to get the radio out. The 'U' has to fit exactly to push the bracket in, and the store-bought one has a snap-in feel to it, so you know when it is seated properly.

The tool is only around $5, and if you buy the stereo from Crutchfield they give you the tool for free.
