Somone gave me a transgo A4LD shift kit for free brand new. Does the tranny need to come out to install any part of it? I might give it to my tranny guy to install if it's not too expensive. I looked at the instructions & there's no way I'm messing with it. It was rebuilt 4K miles ago. Do I even need it?

Thanks

The shift kit is made for the valve body, so only the VB needs to be removed. If you aren't having any problems with the transmission, why make a job out of installing a shift kit unless you want to upgrade the performance of the shifts? You mentioned that it was rebuild 4k miles ago. Maybe they already installed a shift kit.

There ARE parts which are difficult to replace without removing the tranny included in the Transgo kit, but you don't need to install them to just do the VB upgrades.

Yeah I saw the writeup on it. Very good info!. I have to get the new band nuts put on so I'll ask the tranny guy about it.
