Well ive been poking around. Desided the speakers will get replaced first. The thing is I want to do it right, I dont want to end up regreting this in the long run. Money being tight and all, I want good bang for my buck. Just so you know, these now speakers will be connected to a stock 95 xlt w/ 6 disk cd changer.
Now i was told the speaker size was 6 x 8. I assume this is true. If so how hard would it be to fit a 6 x 9 speaker? And how much modification will be needed?
First of all im looking at two products from alpine.
Model: SPR-69LP
http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn...69LP&p_category=80&p_subcategory=90&p_main=10
And
Model: SPS-690A
http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn...90A&p_category=80&p_subcategory=104&p_main=10
So the quest is what one is better? I know the SPS-690A is cheaper and I can get 2 sets for $140. But I can get the SPR-69LP (2 sets) for $170. So its 30 bucks and some change in difference. So in the long hual its not to noticeable.
And also I noticed two things though. the Mounting Depth
For the SPR-69LP:
Mounting Depth (mm) : 79.4mm
For the SPS-690A:
Mounting Depth (mm) : 82.55mm
This will be in a stock truck, so no modifiying of the panels. Well both of these fit?
These are what I was suggested from the Bestbuy supply of speakers. I have to stick with Best Buy due to employee discount
If there is another speaker sold at Best Buy that would be better, let me know. I would perfer to save money, but I have heard alpine is pretty damn good. Also do i need the mounting kit or what? I know the sell them but its 7 bucks (best buy online) and im not sure if its needed.
I look forward to the responces. I hope I can pull the money togather soon. I think I have a stock speaker that has riped or is ripping and its annoying!
Also besides buying the speakers, is there anything you could suggest that is cheap that would be helpfull? Are the stock speaker wire good stuff. Now granted im useing the stock head unit, but I do plan to replace that in a year or so. Any comments or suggestions is welcomed. Feel free to pick apart my ideas. Im new in this feild, so the more i know the better
