quick vibration going into OD - 4r70w

2000 mounty 5.0 AWD with 4r70w(obviously)

when shifting into overdrive its a very quick rattle/vibration.

like i'm dozing off and running over those rumble strips at freeway speeds.

as a matter of fact when it happened the first few time i look in the rear view and saw a man hole cover and was like oh ok
also the shocks are totally gone so that made sense too

but it is very much a trans issue. (so i think)

does it when in drive and does it when i'm shifting through the gears with shifter.

if i turn of OD it never does it.

any ideas?

Sounds like you are experiencing a torque converter shudder, if only has the shudder when its going into lock up there is a good chance a fluid change and maybe add some shudder fix will take care of it.

The converter engagement is often confused with the overdrive shift.

The only thing that doesn't fit is you said it does it when you shift it through the gears with the shifter.

And I'm sorry my verbiage is bad.

It doesn't do it in every gear. Only seems to do it going into od.

The converter is capable to lock up in 3rd as well but the gear ratio in 4th can make the difference on whether the converter shudders or not.

Shudder fix is made by Lubegard and you should be able to find it at auto parts store.
