Ive been reading about front end clunking.

I have reasonable new looking ball joints, so I don't think it is them.

What is the radius arm? or is it radial arm?

I know what a swaybar is.

I know what the torsion bar kevlar pad is.

Si in order of ease I want to replace the RA and swaybar bushings first, then do the torsion bar only if I have to.

But I can't find what parts I need.

I have a 97 awd X V8.

Greg, you don't have radius arms on your truck. That was only on 91-94 Explorers.

I am not all that familiar with 2nd gen AWD drivelines. But I know you don't have radius arms to worry about. I'd check the front u-joints if I were you...
and don't rule out the balljoints. Front u-joints is where I would start.

Is there a way to check the u-joints??

Ball joints will groan over bumps when they are going out. If your tire starts flopping around in the wheel well...then they are definitely dead. ;)
