Ranger '97
Hey I have a 1997 ford ranger base model, no power steering, no airconditioning, no automatic transmission, I was wondering how hard/how much it would cost/if its even possible to add power steering.

I'm pretty sure I have to get a rack+pinion, powersteering pump hoses, brackets, belts, but do I need to change the steering box? suggestions would be wonderful

Isnt the rack and pinion assembly your steering box???

rack and pinion does not use a pitman arm......

do you have any idea on what parts I would need to have power steering?

I would assume you need the power steering pump, belt and bracket.
Power steering hoses and a new power rack and pinion.

But I have never seen a Ranger without power steering so it is hard to say.

Now since this is a 97 Ranger it should have the TTB front end correct????

If you have the TTB front end then you do NOT have rack and pinion steering.

If it is the TTB fron end you will need, power steering pump, belt and bracket. Hoses, and a new power steering assist steering box.

The pitman arm is the same for both trucks I would imagine.
My information says that a 97 Ranger was the last year of the Ranger with the twin beam front end and not the independant A arm suspension.

Forget that power steering and put in that air conditioning!

but, if your truck is a 2wd you do not have ttb fron suspension. you have coil springs and a-arms. you would have to replace the steering box, either way.
