I have a 95 ford ranger 3.0. Well i blew the motor up, so i took a 96 explorer 4.0 engine andput it in my ranger. Using the transmission off the 3.0. Well when i did the engine swap i use the pcm out of the explorer 4.0. Note during engine swap had transmission out of ranger rebuilt. Ok trucks alltogether now overdrive light flashes , iratic shifting , and no reverse. Well these are the same symtems we had in the explorer before we took out motor. My question is... Is it possible the pcm i put in my ranger which is the explorer pcm could be bad causing these problems.ranger is4x2 and explorer is 4x4. When i did engine swap i had to change bellhousing thats it. Do i need the pcm that was origanly in my ranger??
