well boys, i will being joining the Devil dogs on lovely Parris island, SC in may and i am gonna have to sell my Ex. it has low miles(156k) and the rare 5 speed tranny(no 4WD), i have some mods and 2 scratches on the car. idk what to sell it for seeing as how i got it for a steal cause it was a repo. what should i sell it for since i got it for $3500?

PS i know this thread should be in the for sale forum but i'm not selling it just yet.

Can you post pictures of the 5-speed? I always wanted to see what it looked like.

No offense, but 156k Isn't exactly low mileage. I would say anywhere from $5,000 to $7,500. If it had 4x4 you would be look at more in the $10k range, since then a 4x4 Explorer fanatic would gobble the thing up.

the rare 5 speed tranny

I'm confused. I thought all 3rd gen's had a 5-speed automatic transmission, and then moved to a 6-speed on the 4th gen? I know my '04 Limited has a 5-speed auto.

Do you mean it has a manual 5-speed transmission?

I'd be surprised if you can get more than about $4,500 for it. You might check NADA and KBB to see what the value is, then figure you'll get less since most people looking for an Explorer want 4x4 and automatic. That and the mileage, that's more than average for the age (120k).

ford only made a few 5 speed manual 6 cylinder manuals good like in your training and good luck with your sale

The real mileage is 156k, but it was pulled behind an RV for half of that. 156k is on the chasis.

and yes it is the manual 5 speed.

You should get back what you paid for it, but I wouldn't bet on you making a big profit since it's a plain jane model. Not sure how loud it is with the magnaflow, but it may turn off some potential buyers. Let us know what you sell it for!!!

Wow, Kelly Blue Book http://www.kbb.comsays it is worth $2800 in excellent condition. Not much.

I'd try $4500 and negotiate down from there. These guys talking $7,000 OR MORE must be thinking of sentimental value, not living in reality! :p:

Thats the first 3rd gen ive ever seen with the 5 speed.
156k isnt exactly low like previously stated, and any buyer really isnt gonna care whether it was from the engine or towed...

Yea, i was thinking more of someone who HAD TO HAVE a stick shift 3rd gen. I didn't realize it was an XLS either.

I have a 1st gen with a 5 spd manual and V-6. Goes anywhere, I love it. Good luck in the Corps! I was in for 12 years. While your in recruit training just remember, it's not personal, they don't reallyhate you they just act that way. Fight through all the BS and just think...the hard part hasn't even begun yet. Seriously, best of luck!

I too have a 1st gen with a 5 spd manual and V-6
