Rattling in front of engine

I have a rattling in front of engine as if timing chain is plastic guiders are loose? I am wondering if I need a new timing job or is it maybe just the front timing chain tensioner that needs to be replaced? It starts right up but am afraid to keep it running for longer than 20 sec because of the rattle. I have heard horror stories about needing to pull whole engine to replace all the timing chains? And I am extremely nervous, I just bought car for very cheap and hope I don't have to pull engine as this would make me not be driving the car for 4-6months

I think you can change the front timing components without removing the engine.
