I recently traded my 2015 Mustang GT for a 2017 Explorer Sport and want to use my Mustang Mykey for the Explorer. Can that be done? It looks like I need to de-program my Mustang key first but not sure if that will work either. Any help out there?

Welcome to the Forum.
I don't have the answer but for some reason I'm thinking something similar was brought up before but I haven' been able to find it. I'm sure that some members will be able to provide you with the help you're looking for. Good luck.

Peter

Thank you Peter. I will be waiting for other responses.

maybe not very PC, but shouldn't the mustang key have stayed with the Mustang???
It's why used cars often come only with one key and no owner manual. Pretty annoying
Obviously, my apologies if you left the 2 keys with the Mustang and the one you are talking about was/is a spare one

Its not going to hurt anything to try it. Just give it a shot.

The one I have is the extra key I bought and programmed it as a Mykey that I paid over $100 for Luc. I did turn in two keys when I made the trade.

I did try to program it to the Explorer. Apparently it needs to be de-programmed from the Mustang before I can program it for the Explorer. It may not work at all since the Mustang was a Sync system and the Explorer is a Sync 3 system.

Do both have remote start on it?

Might have helped if the MyKey setting was cleared using the Mustang before trading it.

might be long shot, a quick search on ebay didn't have any cross over listings so far

The frequency for the Explorer is 315MHz.

Peter

Only for vehicles without remote start. If it has remote start then it is 902mhz. This started in 2016

If I recall correctly, when I checked my VIN on Ford ETIS it showed both frequencies. Could one be for remote start and the other for the locks or just the TPMS?

TPMS operates on 315 regardless of remote start or not.

Here is the 315 mhz no remote start

I'm confused now. I don't want to buy one, I want to reprogram the Mykey from my 2015 Mustang GT which is a 5 button with remote..

I have the same FCC M3N-A2C31243300 number on both the Mustang key fob and the explorer key fob.
