Hello All,

I had to replace my e-brake shoes on a 1996 Explorer. Upon inspection, I found the drivers side wheel bearing seal was leaking so I said OK, let's replace the rear wheel bearings also. I searched here and read a couple nice write ups on how to and everything was going super smooth, (I even got a new cross pin keeper bolt) until I went to re-install the cross pin. One of the spider gears was laying in the bottom of the rear end housing. Of course this is a limited slip rear and I cannot get the spider back in where they both will line up for the pin. Anybody got any suggestions?

Did you ever get this figured out?

if not, all you do is just rotate the pinion which will move the carrier to a position where you can place in the spider gear, directly across from the other one. eyeballing it seems to work just fine. then just rotate the pinion back so the center pin lines up. the limited slip just means the axle shafts will be a pain to turn, if you need to so everything will line up.
