Hello
I just took my '93 xlt 4x4 into the shop to get the breaks done because one of the rear break self adjusters wasn't adjusting. They took a look at and fixed it, but when I came back to pick up the car, they told me that they serviced all the breaks but the self adjusters really don't do much in the way of adjusting. I was just wondering if this was true or wasn't. I am just curious.

Thanks & Happy Holidays!

The concept of the self-adjusters is to adjust when necessary, but only if you are moving in reverse and mash the pedal fairly hard.

I do this about once every couple of months in a parking lot. Back up quickly, mash the brakes. Pull forward and do it again.

In my experience, normal - just easing out of the driveway won't get the adjusters to turn.
